![]() So, the Nuggets are stuck without a consistent bench that they can rely upon in the playoffs unless internal improvement occurs (unlikely) or a trade happens in the next week. Rookie Christian Braun, though he’s shown great habits and intangibles, is still just a rookie and difficult to trust himself.īeyond that group of bench players, Ish Smith, Davon Reed, Peyton Watson, Jack White, and Collin Gillespie just haven’t had a lot of opportunities to impact the game this year and are unlikely to seriously contribute in the playoffs as a result. That has since abated with Nnaji taking the role entirely, but Nnaji played just three minutes last game in a show of little faith in a close contest. Zeke Nnaji and DeAndre Jordan were initially platooning at center. Jeff Green and Vlatko Čančar have each had their moments as complementary forwards, but neither player has played with consistency in the areas the Nuggets need. That hasn’t manifested this year, and it’s gone badly enough that the Nuggets are seriously considering trading Hyland. Outside of those top six though, the Nuggets are still trying to figure out who they can trust from night to night.īones Hyland was supposed to be the next guy up, providing explosive offense off the bench and offering a change of pace from Denver’s balanced, passing heavy attack. There are basically zero questions about Denver’s top six players other than situational lineup subs for Porter. There are 62 total 4-man lineups in the #NBA this season with at least 400 minutes played.Īmong those, #Nuggets 4-man lineups have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th best net ratings. The five starters plus Bruce Brown are all averaging at least 28 minutes a night, shouldering a heavy burden and playing great basketball together. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown have been great in that regard, focusing heavily on the defensive end and filling in the gaps offensively. The next big step was to add the right talent and versatility around the core. Getting the team healthy was the first big step. ![]() playing the way they are, it’s easy to dream big about the playoffs and of championships. With Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. If the Nuggets maintain that pace, they will win 56 games this year, one off the franchise record. A 35-16 record through 51 games is one of the best in franchise history. It was yet another reminder of the Nuggets success as a squad this year. The Nuggets are currently in first place in the Western Conference, and coaching the All-Star game is seen as a reward to coaching staffs that put in all of the hard work throughout the season. The question is what that asset would be.On Wednesday night, Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was awarded the honor of coaching Team LeBron at the All-Star game in Salt Lake City this February. It was reported that the Knicks had interest in Bey earlier in the trade season, and if the Detroit Pistons aren’t excited about extending Bey this offseason, they could try to move him for Reddish and an additional asset. Of course, he might be involved in the Reddish deal at all, in which case Detroit would likely just send a second round pick or two in exchange for Reddish, making it another buy low and hope deal. The surprising part is the mention of Saddiq Bey. The Pistons have been involved in rumors for Reddish in the past and he does potentially fill a need on the wing. Detroit has shown a penchant for trying to rehabilitate first-round busts, a strategy Troy Weaver has employed several times already in his tenure as the Pistons’ GM. Reddish, who will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, has not played at all since early December, so it makes sense for both him and the team to move on. However, the Knicks and Detroit Pistons have “more recently” had talks about a potential Reddish deal.īegley has previously reported that the Knicks have expressed interest in Pistons wing Saddiq Bey, so perhaps a match could be found there.” Reportedly, both the Pistons and the Nuggets have been in talks with the Knicks centered around forward Cam Reddish.Īccording to Ian Begley of SNY, Detroit has discussed a trade with the Knicks: “Denver Nuggets have “registered some interest” in trading for Cam Reddish. ![]() The Detroit Pistons have been inactive at the trade deadline so far, but that could all change soon, as they’ve been mentioned in trade rumors involving the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.
